  2. Oga prof, by doing this you will make most people buy wrong Phone and it will not work on the 4G he intend to use it for, My advice to people who dont know how to check the band and frequency on the type of phone to buy or already owned, is just to buy the sim and test the phone out.
Nigeria dont manufacture phones, so some phone mention above might have more than 1 series while some are locked and some will have same frequency with GLO network but the band number is not the same for GLO such phone cant work on GLO 4G LTE.
So prof this is not good enough, though it might help some people but it let some people make wrong choice of phone.

    • I get your point.
I also intend buying a 4G phone next week but all this band, frequency tin dey confuse me.

All i need is a phone that works with Ntel 4G, Etisalat 4G,Mtn 4G, Glo 4G.

To make it easy, i suggest you tell us which bands and frequency works for each network.

      E.g.
      1. Glo 4G supports:- LTE band ……
      2. Mtn 4G supports:- LTE band…..
      3. Ntel 4G supports:- LTE band …..
      4. Etisalat 4G supports:- LTE band…
      5. Airtel 4G supports:- LTE band…

With this info all we need to do is copy out the network(s)/band(s) we want and ensure the phone we intend buying supports it.

      E.g.

    • Hello Kling, that is an absolute fallacy. Most people who already have 4G phones doesn't even know the bands their phones run talk less of knowing which 4G network supports there phone. Buying the sim and testing it before knowing the band your device operates is not a good idea, wht if you buy the sim and it doesn't supports it?

If you want to buy a phone is different, then ask and such individual will be guided through.

It may not be good for you, but some people appreciate it.

      @Anonymous above me,
So you want me to just list it this way:
Ntel supports band 3 and 8… 900/1800 Mhz
      MTN 4G supports band 800/1800/2100/2600MHz
      Glo supports band 28 (700MHz)
      Etisalat supports band 3 1800MHz
      Airtel (Unknown)

      Well, there you have it,

  3. Hello Prof & other Techies in da house
I need to change my phone to a 4G phone,
but all this band and frequency brouhaha dey burst my head.

From my little research, i found out that:-

    1. Ntel 4G supports LTE band 3(1800) and band 8(900)
    2. MTN 4G supports Band 20(800) i.e. Band 20 Frequency 800
    3. Glo 4G supports Band 28 (700)
    4. Etisalat 4G supports LTE band 3 (1800)

Therefore to use the above networks on 4G
all i need is to buy a phone that has LTE band 3(1800)
    band 8(900), Band 20 (800), Band 28 (700).

The techies in the house abeg correct me if i am wrong?

Suggetions of phones within the range of #40k-#50k
that meet the above criteria is welcomed.

    Thanks in advance.

    • Hello Anonymous,
Let me be sincere with you, you cannot get smartphone that supports all the bands withing within that range. Even the so called Tecno Boom J8 is around 40K plus.

If you really mean business, then push your budget up and go for Huawei or Sony products

    • Well there's the one I know. And even cheaper but only if you can see it. So u can search for it in all places. The phone is Alcatel pop 4s. But if u care for London used u may get HTC one m8 from computer village but then u must check if the phone is in perfect condition before buying it.
