I only use Bluetooth on my PC when pairing my wireless
mouse. Xender app is what I currently use on all my devices.

Xender and shareit do the magic for me. The later, is used for full duplex communication between my laptop and phone.
I use xender and it's the best for me.

I'll suggest you use shareit. But if you want to stick to xender, then you have to select the option to connect with pc in your phone. You don't need to install any app on your laptop, except you're using shareit.
