WhatsApp Dark Mode Finally Ready For Some Selected Users

WhatsApp‘s long-awaited dark mode feature is finally ready for release, according to users who have already tested it. Also, we are expecting “Low Data Mode” feature and the introduction of Haptic Touch support for iOS devices to be rolled out in the coming weeks.

The Facebook-owned messaging app has been teasing the dark mode for months, though it’s yet to announce a release date or even officially comment on it.

Tipster WaBetaInfo, which follows developments with the beta version of the app, revealed that the dark theme update is ready for the Android version of WhatsApp.

The iOS dark theme is also nearly set for release, though it still needs a few minor tweaks before it rolls out on iPhones and iPads.

“It’s something that WhatsApp can fix in 15 minutes,” the site explained. “The real problem is that we don’t know when they will do.”

The update is designed to reduce screen glare by replacing the light-colored background and message bubbles with darker colors.

Dark mode makes it easier to few messages in low light conditions, while also preventing the app from draining as much battery.

Many other popular apps already include the feature, including the Facebook-owned Messenger app.

Some WhatsApp users have already figured out a way to unlock the highly anticipated feature by exploiting a bug within the Android app.

The method was widely shared across social media in early December, which involves sending a YouTube link to a contact within the app.

It currently only works for users running the beta version of the app on a phone with Android 10 installed.

  1. This will be nice especially when it comes to the battery and data saver part. But why not start with Android 9 cos I wonder how many people use Android 10 for now
