If you are an MTN subscriber, you may have difficulty recharging or buying data using the USSD code. According to the latest development, MTN has currently blocked its subscribers from using their mobile phones to recharge or buy data by using USSD codes.
What this means is that for the time being, subscribers cannot recharge their lines or buy data plans using the USSD codes particular to their banks. Subscribers who made efforts to recharge via USSD codes got the below message.
“Dear Customer, this service is temporarily unavailable. Kindly contact your Telecom service provider.”
MTN Nigeria also confirmed the development in a mail sent to some of its partners, which in part reads:
“Dear Customer, Please be informed that some of My customers may not be able to purchase airtime, and data recharge via banks including MOD, and myMTNApp.
Please pacify My customers and educate them to use MTNTopit, MoMo channels, as well as the debit card options on MOD or myMTN App.”
If you want to recharge or buy data, you can use alternate channels like OPay app or your bank app depending on which one you are confortable with.
