How to Get GTBank Dollar Master Card in Nigeria, Charges & Limitations

I looked at my Naira Master Card, and I began to imagine how
use-less internationally it is right now because every attempt to make
international transaction with it proves abortive. According to my bank Dynamic
Currency Conversion that allows you to pay in Naira, has been temporarily
restricted on all  cards.

Meaning the only thing you can use Naira Master Card for
right now is to cash out from Nigeria ATM stand and shop in Nigeria. The card
makes no sense to me anymore. This prompted me to take a step further getting
a Dollar Master Card
GTB Dollar Master Card makes a lot of sense; it is what I
now use for my international transactions, linked to my PayPal account without
any currency restriction. If you do online business, genuine blogger or
freelancer, you simply need this card.

Benefits of Getting a Dollar Master Card
>>Global Acceptance, it is accepted globally as means
of payments of anything
>>It can be used to make multiple payments across POS
terminals, ATMs etc
>>It is easy to use and access your current balance.

How to Get GTB Dollar Master Card?
Getting the card is as easy as ABC so long you have a DOM
account with GTBank. If you don’t have a DOM account, see how you can open one
for yourself here.
>>If you already have a DOM account, go to the nearest
GTBank closest to you and pick the Dollar Master Card application form.
>> Ensure you have a minimum balance of $50 in your
DOM account.
For Non Account Holders, please refer to the link above to
see how you can open a DOM account for yourself.
My Dollar Master Card was ready for pick up after 8 working
days, you’ll be notified once its ready either via email or sms, in my case I
got an email to come and pick it up.

The moment you pick up your card, your pin will be given to
you but do not change the pin YET. You’ll be required to call GTConnect on this
number 1800 right inside the bank and you’ll be asked some sensitive questions
like the below;

Mothers maiden name and some other sensitive questions to be sure you are the
owner of the said account.
The Rep will tell you to wait for 15minute to change your

  1. Been thinking about getting a dollar card myself. The exchange rate is becoming too high. This post has shown how easy it is to get one especially for international online transactions although as Chris said above, funding the account will still be the same thing (exchange rate). Thanks Yomi.

  2. Hello Prof. After linking a Dollar account to Paypal in Nigeria, can someone receive funds with the Paypal?

  3. Thank you. One more question; did you use yours for PayPal? If yes, did you have any money in your dollar card before using it? Because I tried mine yesterday but it didn't work and I was told PayPal charges like $1 during the process of adding a credit or debit card and because mine is new, it was empty
